The Sweetness of Mount Abu
Mount Abu, India Merle Pimentel, Aug 21, 2009 02:59 PM
It must be around 24 years ago when I was invitied by a friend to visit India for a pilgrimage. Excited about having a chance to visit one of the most spiriitual place and steeped in culture and history, I went to set aside a month in order to savor the richness of such experience. Landing in New Delhi, we were anticiapting that we would be picked up at the airport, but noone came, so we decided to got ourselves a cab, government-run and proceeded to the address we were given. With a mixture of fear, being new to the place and anticipation, we brazen ourselves with courage and directed the cab driver to take us to our destination.
As soon as we arrive we were told that our train to Mount Abu will after two hours so we have to rush for the train station. After 16 hours of train travel , we now saw ourselves tracking treacherous winding road to Mount Abu. What a site.Immediately I could feel the peaceful simplicity of the place, the friendly locals, the cool and sweet breeze.
