if your going to bali your dollar is better as cash. the rate for some reason is going to get you more rupia. you will not need a pasport to change money there.travellers cheques will get a worse rate and you will need your passport to change traveller cheques but are safer.although most hotels have safty boxes, which should be used for all your jewlery and expensive watches. which you should have left at home anyway and just makes you a target.
