A Touch of Spain in Melbourne City

If like me you love flamenco or you just wanted to see what it's about, you'll love the small tapas bar atmosphere at Kanela Bar, just off Fitzroy's famous Brunswick Street. Bookings are recommended if you want the traditional tapas plates on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, when a live flamenco show starts at 9.30pm. Get in early and sample the sangria as you order traditional meatballs, succulent prawns in garlic sauce and tempting tortillas. Students of the upstairs dance classes often hang around for a drink and to watch the show afterwards, so the bar area can get busy. The family show includes a singer, guitarist, percussionist and a male and female dancer, occasionally with others joining in, and Johnny Tedesco strutting his stuff is really a sight to behold.
