Tasmania - Beautiful one day, stunning the next!

We planned to spend a week in Tasmania, as we were sure we could see most of this tiny island in that time. That was our first big mistake, well, actually, it was our second. Our first big mistake was leaving it for so long to visit Tasmania in the first place. Tasmania is a feast for the eyes and nourishment for the soul. It is beautiful, it?s people are friendly and helpful, it?s history intact and cherished. Wherever we went locals went out of their way to help us. Historical homes were opened after hours, when we arrived late because we had not realised how late it gets dark in Tasmania. At 10.00pm, the sun was just sinking over the horizon. This meant longer days to enjoy more sightseeing. The food was fresh, cheap and plentiful, with roadside stalls selling fruit from the orchards. Cheese factories gave free tastings and cheap dairy products were available directly from the producer. When we picked our own strawberries at a farm, the owner kept pressing ?samples? on us and we left with our kilo of fruit and full tummies! Gardeners at historical gardens gave us flowers to pin to our hats, the life was relaxed and everyone had time for a ?yarn? sharing stories about the inhabitants and history of the place we were in.
